Professional Goals Statement
During my academic journey, I chose to specialize in Sociology and Criminology, driven by a strong interest in [criminal] behavior and its intersection with broader societal factors, approached through a research and education focused lens. I had particular interest in urban studies, inequalities, crime, adolescence, and life course theories. I believe that the study of the transitional period between adolescence and adulthood is an important monument in an individual’s life, which is why I think becoming an educator at that period in a person’s life would be the most fulfilling career. I hope to be able to inspire students to achieve the goals they wish to achieve and
I have yet to have an opportunity to work directly within the field, but have researched, analyzed, and wrote numerous papers on different Sociological and Criminological topics. One particular project I had completed that directly correlates to my Master’s program is a 10-minute lecture describing the relationship between Education and Crime through the Life Course Theory perspective.
My future goals are to continue with further education, either getting accepted into and completing a Sociology PhD program, or completing a Single Subject Social Science Teaching Credential Program. I do not want to give up on my goal to become an educator, so I hope that my commitment will lead me to the right opportunity for me to achieve it. I am deeply passionate for learning and education within this field of study, and eager to purse further education and/or educate others. I hope that I can continue to become an educator much like the ones who have inspired me on my academic journey.
